Car Day

Car Day was fabulous! We had cars going as far back as 1912 right up to the present day.

Luckily we had some lovely helpers to take us round in small groups so that we could have a really good look at all the cars.

We looked at all the different aspects of the cars: safety, comfort, the works.

The Lamborghini was very popular!

Caleb, Harvey and Oscar enjoyed the Bridgend Van.

What a beauty!

We learnt a lot about the cars and enjoyed talking to the owners. It was a terrific end to our Transport Topic.

Manu iti Assembly

Rooms 1, 2 & 3 came together on Friday to do our joint assembly.

We all had some very interesting learning to share about Transport.

Each room had some terrific art work to show.

Our art was made from the shapes we have been looking at in maths.

We sang an invite to the Manu iti Car day on Tuesday.

The Wright Brothers

Today we learnt all about the Wright Brothers and what how they came to be inventors of aeroplanes!

We watched a video that told us all about their early lives and how they grew up with a dream that they persevered with until they had invented a plane that flew. Then we had a talk about all the different kinds of travel that we have looked at and when it was all invented. We had some good comments and questions.

Here we are writing stories about the Wright Brothers.

Planes, trains and automobiles...

We have been investigating  all different forms of transport. Last week we had  a day looking at planes and how they have changed so much since they were first invented. We made our own small war planes which was lots of fun.

We ar working on making some interactive posters and one of our reading rotations today was to work on our titles for our posters.

Powhiri

Our Powhiri for the new starters and new entrants was a huge success. Here wae are waiting for the ceremony to start.

Our senior girls do the calling.

The Kapa Haka group performed really well.

Mr Marshall talked about how much the new entrants will grow as they progress through the school until they are as big as the Year 8 seniors.

Here are the new entrants and the new starters planting their tree. The tree will grow with them all the way through their school years.
