Kelly Sports Day

Yay! Monday again and we start our day with Kelly Sports.

Sophie has another fun warm-up organised we are calling it 'Uppy/downy cones'. We have cones turned up and down all around the hall. We split into two teams - ups and downs - and they have to turn the cones up or down. The winning team is the one with the most cones. We love this game.

Next we played passing the football - using the sides of our foot to kick the ball to a partner. This was a really good skill and control exercise.

Next we played a game in two teams. The hall was split into two with a line of dots and at each end there was a line of cones. The aim of the game was to kick balls passed the cones on the other team's side; using the side of our feet.

Another fun session - thank you Sophie!

Week 8 Already!

Goodness it is Week 8 already - I can hardly believe it! The term is whizzing by...Spring is here, the sun is shining and the flowers are blooming.

We have started our week off well with the lovely Sophie teaching us Kelly Sports. We love it; it is a great way to start our week.

We started today by warming up with one foot on the ball and the other foot on the  floor then we did a quick swap with our feet. The warm up continued with us moving around the room with the ball: dribbling the ball but keeping within the boundaries. Next we did the same thing but high fived each other: a challenge designed to get us to look where we are heading whilst dribbling. The first game today was 'candlesticks' but with footballs. When we were tagged we had to pick up our ball and hold it at our chest. We could ‘save’ each other by kicking the ball under the candlesticks legs. To increase the challenge Sophie picked two teams. The second game of the day was 'Octopus' but with balls. The taggers having to kick the player's ball out of boundaries to get them out. It was a fun take on the the games we all know very well .

Yay! A day for visitors in the classroom; this afternoon, Mrs Wetere visited us and after a lovely Maori story time we practised our tititoria.

We have to be quite gentle and be careful not to knock holes on our floor!

We work with partners to practise...

...and then we put our tititoria routines to music. We love it, it is really good for our focusing and listening skills.

Holiday Time For Harvey!

Harvey is having a wonderful time away in Australia and he has written us a letter to tell us all about it...

Hello room 3
Hope you are all well.
This is a picture of Carlos and I at the moon house.
We call it the moon house because it is very close to the moon. It is nanna and grandads beach house and it’s right by the beach in Surfers Paradise.
We are having a great time with my family.I loved going to the beach, the spa, pool and riding on the dodgems at Timezone.
I have also been eating lots of my favourite Australian donuts.
See you later next week when we get back.
Have fun,
Harvey.

We are looking forward to you coming back, Harvey!
